The Ajman Department of Tourism Development (ADTD) is poised to make a significant impact at the Arabian Travel Market 2024 (ATM), scheduled for May 6-9. This key event is a strategic platform for ADTD to highlight Ajman’s cultural richness, bustling event calendar, and diverse tourist attractions, showcasing the dynamic growth of its tourism sector.
Ajman’s tourism industry has experienced a robust upswing, evidenced by a notable 5% increase in tourism activity and an 11% surge in visitor numbers in October 2023 alone. This growth trajectory continued into 2023, with international arrivals climbing by 29% compared to the previous year, demonstrating Ajman’s growing stature on the global tourism scene. Notably, international visitors now account for 60% of total arrivals, with significant contributions from GCC countries, the Russian Federation, India, the UK, and Egypt.
The first quarter of 2024 has already shown promising figures, with a 7% increase in total revenues and a 3% rise in hotel occupancy rates compared to the same period in 2023. The number of visitors has also increased by 9%, and the average length of stay has expanded by 5%, indicating that Ajman is not only attracting more visitors but also encouraging them to stay longer.
Leisure continues to be the primary reason for visits, making up about 70% of total arrivals. Ajman has also become a favoured destination for staycations, corporate events, and MICE activities, supported by a solid local market.
His Excellency Mahmood Khaleel Alhashmi, Director General of the ADTD, emphasizes the importance of ATM 2024 as a milestone for future growth. “ATM 2024 is a pivotal moment for Ajman as we showcase our commitment to the Ajman Vision 2030,” he stated. “Our participation aims to highlight Ajman’s unique blend of vibrant culture, rich heritage, and exceptional hospitality, aligning with our strategic goals for sustainable tourism development.”
