Halal certification bodies around the world have accused Indonesia`s MUI official of extorting money to renew their licenses. According to these bodies, Mr. Lukmanul Hakim, the head of Majelis Ulema Indonesia (MUI) Assessment Institute for Foods, Drugs And Cosmetics (LPPOM) misused his powers to compel certification bodies to give him bribery so so to keep their names in the list of the approved certifiers.
