High-level Brazilian and Arab authorities are set to convene at the Global Halal Brazil Business Forum (GHB), taking place this Monday (23) and Tuesday (24) at the WTC Events Center in Sao Paulo. Joining the event’s opening via video addresses are the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Brazil, Mauro Vieira, and the Minister of State for Foreign Trade of the United Arab Emirates, Thani bin Ahmed Zeyoudi. On the second day, the Minister of Agriculture and Livestock of Brazil, Carlos Favaro, will make an in-person appearance during the closing session.
The GHB serves as a pivotal platform for fostering discussions on the halal market in Brazil and brings together key stakeholders in the industry, including scholars, government officials, business leaders, and public representatives. Organized by the Arab-Brazilian Chamber of Commerce (ABCC) and the certification entity FAMBRAS Halal, the event focuses on products and services that adhere to the standards of the Islamic religion, catering to a global halal consumer base of 1.9 billion individuals.
Distinguished figures attending the event include the vice-dean of the Council of Arab Ambassadors in Brazil and Ambassador of Morocco, Nabil Adghoghi; the Secretary-General of the Islamic Chamber of Commerce, Industry, and Agriculture (ICCIA), Yousef Khalawi; the President of the ABCC, Osmar Chohfi; and the Chairman of FAMBRAS Halal, Mohamed Zoghbi. Leading executives from halal-supplying companies will also participate, such as Leonardo Dall’Orto, Vice-President of International Market and Planning at BRF; João Campos, CEO of Seara Alimentos; and Paulo Painez, Director of Sustainability and Communication at Marfrig. From Arab companies, speakers will include Ibrahim Abu Helil, CEO & Founder of JIA Trade & Healthy Food Marketing & Tourism from Jordan.
The organizers aim to enhance awareness in Brazil about the vast potential of the global halal market and communicate the country’s pivotal role as the world’s leading supplier of halal protein. This position showcases its capacity for expansion, serving new products and reaching more countries with significant Islamic populations. Although in-person registration is now closed, the event will be broadcast live on YouTube.
GHB enjoys institutional support from the International Halal Academy and partnerships with the Islamic Chamber of Commerce, Industry, and Agriculture (ICCIA), Union of Arab Chambers (UAC), League of Arab States, Ministry of Development, Industry, Commerce and Services of Brazil, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Brazil, and the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (ApexBrasil).
