In a significant stride toward reinforcing global halal standards, Indonesia’s Halal Product Assurance Agency (BPJPH), under the aegis of the Religious Affairs Ministry, is poised to host the landmark Halal World Forum. This prestigious event, scheduled from November 17 to 21, 2023, in Jakarta’s JIExpo, is set to witness an unprecedented gathering of 118 halal institutions from 41 different countries.
BPJPH head Aqil Irham, while addressing a press conference in Jakarta, underscored the forum’s significance as a progressive extension of the H20 (Halal 20) forum, a noteworthy initiative born during Indonesia’s G20 Presidency in 2022. “The Halal World Forum is more than just a meeting; it’s a confluence of ideas and standards in the halal sphere,” Irham remarked.
Central to the forum’s agenda is the International Conference on Global Halal Standards, which promises a congregation of eminent experts and representatives from foreign halal authorities. These sessions are expected to delve into the intricacies of halal certification and foster a shared understanding of global standards.
Further diversifying the forum’s scope is an international seminar focused on Indonesia’s halal certification regulations and policies, shedding light on the country’s framework and its alignment with global practices.
Adding a commercial dimension to the forum is an expansive exhibition aimed at propelling Indonesian halal products onto the international stage. This exhibit is not merely a showcase but a testament to Indonesia’s burgeoning role in the global halal market.
The “Halal Tour” constitutes another pivotal facet of the forum. This initiative is designed to offer global participants an immersive experience into Indonesia’s thriving halal industry, providing a first-hand look at the country’s advancements in this sector.
Equally critical is the Halal Coaching Clinic. As Irham elaborates, “This clinic is more than just a consulting service. It’s an opportunity for foreign halal institutions to align with BPJPH’s accreditation and recognize our robust halal standards.”
At the heart of the Halal World Forum lies a deeper mission – to forge unity in global halal standards and practices. This event is not just an arena for dialogue but a platform for actualizing a unified vision for the halal industry worldwide.
Irham further emphasizes the strategic importance of promoting domestic halal products globally, particularly in light of the rapid increase in halal certification issuance in Indonesia over the past two years. “Our goal is not just to showcase Indonesia’s halal products but to position them as frontrunners in the global market,” he asserts.
The Halal World Forum, in essence, is poised to be a pivotal event, shaping the future of the global halal industry and reinforcing Indonesia’s standing as a key player in this increasingly interconnected market.
