Jakarta (ANTARA) – Vice President Ma’ruf Amin has highlighted the immense potential of the upcoming Bank Syariah Indonesia (BSI) International Expo 2024 to boost Indonesia’s economic landscape. Set to be a key event, the expo aims to not only showcase but also significantly amplify the market presence of Indonesian halal products.
“The BSI International Expo should go beyond being just an exhibition. It must deliver real added value to our national economy and pave the way for high-quality halal Indonesian products,” VP Amin asserted on Thursday in Jakarta.
The VP highlighted that the expo is envisioned as a pivotal platform for exploring investment opportunities and fostering international trade partnerships within the global halal industry.
“This expo is not just about displaying products; it’s about facilitating impactful business meetings that culminate in concrete agreements between domestic and international stakeholders,” Amin elaborated.
Boosting the Halal Value Chain with BSI Expo
VP Amin called for a concerted effort to bolster productive sectors integral to the halal value chain. This includes increasing financing and support for businesses that align with sharia principles.
“BSI’s development initiatives and financial backing should target sharia-compliant enterprises, especially in key sectors like agriculture, food, and beverages,” he pointed out.
The scope of the halal value chain is broad, encompassing sectors such as Muslim-friendly tourism, fashion, cosmetics, and services for Umrah and Hajj. The VP stressed that the BSI International Expo 2024 could act as a catalyst to enhance financing and support for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) within these sectors.
Catalyzing Economic Growth
With a growing global interest in halal products, Indonesia is strategically positioned to leverage this trend. The halal industry is projected to grow exponentially, driven by increasing demand from Muslim and non-Muslim consumers. The BSI Expo is set to play a crucial role in positioning Indonesia at the forefront of this market.
The Vice President urged stakeholders to ensure the expo supports efforts to strengthen the sustainable Sharia ecosystem and the broader economic infrastructure. Doing so can significantly contribute to the expansion and inclusion of sharia finance and social funds.
A Platform for Global Collaboration
The BSI International Expo 2024 is anticipated to attract a diverse array of participants, including global halal industry leaders, investors, and policymakers. This creates a unique opportunity for Indonesian businesses to establish and expand their international footprint.
“The expo should serve as a bridge, linking our domestic market with international players, thereby fostering robust trade relations and investment flows,” Amin asserted.
Enhancing Sharia-Compliant Business Support
The VP also emphasized the importance of channeling financing towards halal business actors to spur industry growth. This aligns with Indonesia’s broader goal of becoming a global halal hub, capitalizing on its rich cultural heritage and extensive natural resources.
“Through initiatives like the BSI International Expo, we can drive the expansion of sharia-compliant businesses and enhance the overall competitiveness of our halal products on the global stage,” he added.
The BSI International Expo 2024 is more than just an event; it’s a strategic initiative aimed at unlocking new market potentials and reinforcing Indonesia’s position in the global halal industry. By fostering international collaborations, boosting investment, and supporting MSMEs, the expo is set to deliver substantial economic benefits and drive the growth of the halal sector.
As the world increasingly embraces halal products, Indonesia stands ready to lead, leveraging platforms like the BSI Expo to showcase its offerings and secure its place in this burgeoning market.
