In a significant advancement for the Halal market, Islamic Services of America (ISA) has obtained its official Halal Product Certification accreditation for GSO 2055-2 from the Riyadh-based GCC Accreditation Center (GAC). This endorsement solidifies ISA’s technical proficiency in Quality Management Systems, ISO standards, and internationally accepted Halal standards.
ISA Halal, a Halal certification body, partners with both domestic and international manufacturers to certify their consumable and non-consumable offerings, catering to Muslims and other Halal consumers. This strategic collaboration with manufacturers, distributors, and trade partners aids in strengthening the global supply chain and restoring net food product exports.
Securing Halal certification endows food processors and manufacturers with a distinct advantage over competitors without the certification. The certification enables expansion to a wider consumer market, especially given the sheer size of the global Halal food and beverage market, which caters to over 1.8 billion Muslims worldwide. Possession of Halal certification thus facilitates entry into international markets, reaching food consumers that comprise nearly one-fourth of the global population.
The attainment of the GAC accreditation represents a significant breakthrough for ISA, extending its global recognition from notable Halal governing bodies in Malaysia, Indonesia, and Singapore, along with the World Halal Food Council (WHFC). The WHFC comprises over 50 organizations across more than 35 nations.
Reflecting on this achievement, ISA President, Jalel Aossey, stated, “ISA continues with its decades-long expertise to address matters most relevant to the growth of the global Halal market. As an organizational achievement, this accreditation is a further recognition of the excellent team at ISA who are among the leaders in the Halal industry and committed to addressing the needs of the rapidly expanding Halal marketplace.”
Simultaneously, ISA was granted the ISO 17065 conformity assessment accreditation for the certification of products, services, and processes by A2LA, the American Association for Laboratory Accreditation, headquartered in Frederick, Maryland.
