Islamic Banking: Bahrain’s Ithmaar Bank Recieves Best Bank Branch Award
Ithmaar Bank’s main branch won the coveted Best Branch Award for the first quarter of 2014.
The award was presented to branch Manager Sami Al Hajri by the Ithmaar Bank chief executive officer Ahmed Abdul Rahim at a a ceremony held at the Bank’s headquarters in Seef. The ceremony was also attended by Ithmaar Bank general manager, retail and private banking Abdul Hakeem Al Mutawa and other senior executives. “The Main branch is perhaps our most high-profile branch,” said Al Mutawa.
“To win the award, the main branch demonstrated consistently exceptional performance with a particular emphasis on efficiency and customer satisfaction. I take this opportunity to congratulate Sami and his team on their achievement and wish them continued success,” he said.
Unemployment rate dips to 3.7% in Q2
Unemployment rate fell from 4 per cent in quarter one to just 3.7 per cent the second quarter of this year, according to a recent report.
Bahrain has created more job opportunities for local job-seekers with the launch of the second phase of the “employment and rehabilitation of Bahrainis” project, a key scheme spearheaded by the labour ministry. The report approved by the Cabinet on Sunday, reflected the tangible steps made by the kingdom regarding the labour market’s indicators during the second quarter of this year.
It indicated that 6,085 citizens were employed, at a rate of 2,028 jobs per month, and the production and transportation sectors had the highest rates of employment.
BAC inks deal with Lockheed Martin’s Beontra
Bahrain Airport Company (BAC), the manager and operator of Bahrain International Airport, recently signed a deal with Beontra, a Lockheed Martin company, for the implementation of its cutting-edge route analysis tool B Route Development.
With air travel expected to rise 5.8 per cent over 2014, the technology will allow BAC to calculate, analyse and present route cases to airlines.
This means ensuring that airlines are provided with the most efficient service possible and delivering high-quality route analysis plan.
Zain Bahrain launches ‘#5alikZain’ drive campaign
Zain Bahrain, the most innovative operator in the Kingdom, launched a ‘#5alikZain’ campaign aimed at spreading joy within the community. The campaign included several activities that made a difference through simple acts of kindness. The team from Zain Bahrain’s Fun Network paid for supermarket and bakery purchases of community members, distributed water to people exercising in public parks and handing electronic fans to shoppers in Manama and Muharraq Souq.
It also distributed meal packets to less fortunate families.
