ALADDIN Group has launched Aladdin1 Malaysia, with plans to expand the reach of merchants to over 45 countries and five billion consumers.
Aladdin Group co-founder Datuk Dr. Sheikh Muszaphar Shukor (picture) said since the Movement Control Order (MCO) last year, 36% of new consumers have rallied in the e-commerce market.
“Aladdin1 offers quality and premium products, strategizing to move away from e-commerce to social commerce.
“As such, we plan to leverage on influencers and celebrities to spread the word,” he said during his opening speech in Petaling Jaya yesterday.
He said the main target of the group is to help small and medium enterprises (SMEs) grow domestically and begin international operations.
“Through its high-value global market segment, SMEs (are welcomed to) join Aladdin1 as we establish connections for SMEs to reach the rest of the world through one of the largest consumer markets.”
The e-commerce platform utilizes a by-invitation-only policy, whereby brand owners and merchants are checked for authenticity of products.
The group focuses on offering halal products, which is a growing industry.
The market represents one of the largest growing consumer segments in the world with a global consumption value of an estimated US$3 trillion (RM12.35 trillion) annually.
The Aladdin1 network plans to offer fashion, health, and beauty, halal foods and beverage, lifestyle, travel, and hospitality among its products.
The group utilizes the halal standards available in Malaysia and Indonesia.
Also present at the launch was the Deputy Minister of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Datuk Wira Mas Ermieyati Samsudin, who said the halal industry is not just food, but also healthcare, tourism, and modest fashion.
“I urge not only halal industry players but for manufacturers to leverage on the platform, which plans to move forward in a scalable manner.
“We hope Aladdin will follow Alibaba and eventually place us among the leading digital markets solutions in the world,” she said.
Aladdin1 was previously known as Aladdin Street.
