KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia’s capabilities in the medical and healthcare sector will be promoted at the Medical Fair (MEDICA) Asia 2014, the industry’s largest trade fair in the region.
The event, to be held at the Singapore Exhibition and Convention Centre on Sept 9-11, will be coordinated by the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE).
In a statement, MATRADE said products and services highlighted at the event include electromedical, laboratory and rehabilitation equipment, pharmaceuticals, pathology and radiotherapy equipment, construction technology, information systems and emergency medicine.
LKL Advance Metaltech Sdn Bhd, one of the participants, said it hopes to create greater brand awareness and establish partnerships at the event.
Nasmir Hard Gelatin Capsules Sdn Bhd, a first-time participant, said it looks forward to networking with pharmaceutical distributors to collaborate in penetrating the Asean market through their halal hard capsules product.
The company is targeting further collaboration with MATRADE to establish themselves as one of the main suppliers of halal hard capsules in the global market.
MATRADE said there is great potential for Malaysian medical devices in Singapore with the market predicted to grow further to US$908 million (RM2.88 billion) by 2018.
In 2013, the market was valued at US$466 million (RM1.48 billion).
