Viet Nam is preparing to move toward expanding its Halal industry with the inaugural International Halal Conference on “Fostering International Cooperation and Mobilizing Internal Resources to Develop Viet Nam’s Sustainable Halal Industry.” The event, organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Science and Technology, and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, will be held in a hybrid format, combining in-person and virtual participation.
Set to take place in Ha Noi on October 22, the conference is expected to draw over 350 participants, including representatives from international and regional organizations, foreign partners, relevant Vietnamese ministries, provincial authorities, and businesses from Vietnam and abroad. The event offers a platform for discussing strategies to enhance Halal trade, investment, and technical cooperation, with the broader goal of establishing Vietnam as a key player in the global Halal market.
Strengthening Halal Trade and Investment Partnerships
One of the primary focuses of the conference is to build stronger trade relationships between Vietnam and countries with high demand for Halal products, such as Malaysia, Indonesia, the United Arab Emirates, and Saudi Arabia. Discussions will explore opportunities to improve market access for Vietnamese Halal goods and how to ensure that these products meet the highest international standards.
Additionally, the conference will allow participants to establish direct connections with Vietnamese businesses and provincial representatives. These interactions will be key in fostering long-term partnerships, driving trade, and increasing investment between Viet Nam and global markets.
As part of Vietnam’s strategic push into the global Halal sector, the conference will also address the mobilization of internal resources. The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development will introduce initiatives to harness local expertise, improve infrastructure, and adopt advanced technologies that can support the sustainable growth of Viet Nam’s Halal industry.
The Ministry of Science and Technology will present new technological advancements aimed at improving Halal certification processes. With the rise of blockchain and other digital tools for tracing and verifying products, Viet Nam aims to enhance transparency and build trust in its Halal-certified goods.
Expanding into Emerging Sectors
Viet Nam’s ambitions for the Halal market extend beyond traditional sectors like food and beverages. The country is also exploring opportunities in industries such as cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, and tourism. The global market for Halal-certified cosmetics and pharmaceuticals continues to grow, and Vietnam aims to position itself as a competitive player by ensuring these products align with global Halal standards.
The conference will also focus on promoting Muslim-friendly tourism in Viet Nam. With an increasing number of Muslim travelers, the country is working to improve Halal-certified accommodations and services, further boosting its appeal as a destination for Halal tourism.
The conference underscores Viet Nam’s commitment to building a sustainable and globally recognized Halal industry. By bringing together international stakeholders, local businesses, and government officials, this event aims to set the stage for future collaborations and investments that will enhance Vietnam’s standing in the global Halal economy.
