A good friend of mine shared the following story via WhatsApp: I thought I needed to share this amazing story with all our readers. I hope you will like it. An imam was about to sell Islam for 50 pence. But, the light bulb in his heart turned on just on time, and Allah saved him from destroying his life and that of another person. Please read on.
Several years ago, a Sheikh from a different city accepted a call to a town to propagate Islam. A few weeks after he arrived in the city, he had to ride a bus from his home to the downtown area. When he sat down, he discovered that the driver had accidentally given him 50 pence above his normal change.
As he considered what to do, he thought to himself, ‘You’d better give this money back. It would be wrong to keep it. Then another thought flashed in his mind “Forget it, it’s only 50p; who would worry about this little amount? The bus company is not going to go bankrupt if they do not receive this money back” When his stop came, he paused at the door, handed the 50p to the driver, and said,’ Hear, you gave me this extra change.’
The driver, with a smile, replied,’ Aren’t you the new Sheikh in town?’ ‘Yes,’ he replied.’ Well, I have been thinking a lot lately about accepting Islam. I just wanted to see what you would do if I gave you this extra change. I’ll see you at the mosque this Friday to take my shahadah. When the Sheikh stepped off the bus, he grabbed the nearest light pole, held on, and said, ‘Oh Allah, I almost sold Islam for 50 pence.
Dear brothers and sisters in Islam! ‘Our lives are the only Quran some people will ever read. This is a really scary example of how much people watch us as Muslims, and will put us to the test! Always be on guard — and remember — You carry the name of Islam on your shoulders when you call yourself ‘Muslim. ‘Watch your thoughts; they become words. Watch your words; they become actions. Watch your actions; they become habits. Watch your habits; they become character. Watch your character; it becomes your destiny. I’m glad a friend forwarded this to me as a reminder and I chose to forward it to you. If you don’t pass this on to anybody, nothing wrong will happen to you but, if you do, you would have reminded someone today of his/her responsibility as a Muslim, and Allah SWT will bless you.
