The Azerbaijan Halal Business and Tourism Forum (AZHAB Forum) has officially begun in Baku, marking the first-ever event of its kind in the country. Organized by the Ministry of Economy of Azerbaijan, the State Tourism Agency, and the Small and Medium Business Development Agency (KOBIA), the two-day forum brings together officials, experts, academics, and business leaders from around 20 countries to explore the growth prospects of the global halal industry.
This high-profile event, supported by key organizations such as the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), the Islamic Chamber of Commerce and Development (ICCD), and the Standards and Metrology Institute for Islamic Countries (SMIIC), aims to foster international collaboration, attract foreign investment, and promote halal business and tourism in Azerbaijan.
Exploring Halal Industry Prospects and Global Cooperation
The forum focuses on a range of critical topics including the development of halal industry standards, investment opportunities, and avenues for cooperation among international businesses. Attendees will have the chance to exchange ideas, share experiences, and discuss strategies for enhancing trade and investment in the halal sector.
During the opening session, notable speakers such as Majnun Mammadov, Minister of Agriculture of Azerbaijan, and Dr. Ahmad Kawesa Sengendo, Assistant Secretary-General for Economic Affairs of the OIC, emphasized the importance of halal certification, innovation, and technology in boosting Azerbaijan’s presence in the global halal market. Goshgar Tahmazli, Chairman of the Food Safety Agency of Azerbaijan, also highlighted the need for stricter standards and certifications to ensure the credibility and competitiveness of halal products in international markets.

The AZHAB Forum features both a conference and an exhibition, with over 30 companies from Azerbaijan and abroad showcasing their products and services.
