In a significant move for Brazil’s halal industry, São Paulo is preparing to host the second edition of the Global Halal Brazil Business Forum from October 23-24. This event, recognized as the country’s leading halal market gathering, is the result of a collaborative effort between the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce (ABCC) and FAMBRAS Halal. The forum is expected to draw a diverse crowd of industry experts and business leaders from Brazil and around the world.
ABCC president Osmar Chohfi has underscored the forum’s strategic importance in positioning Brazil as a dependable partner in the halal market for Arab and Islamic attendees. The event also serves as a platform to inform more Brazilian businesses about the potential opportunities within the halal market.
Ali Zoghbi, deputy chair of FAMBRAS Halal, has hailed the event as a “historic moment” for Brazil’s halal industry. The forum is set to spotlight Brazil’s role as a global supplier of halal meat and its capacity to broaden its reach into new sectors and Muslim-majority countries.
The forum’s agenda includes a wide array of topics, such as the expansion of the global halal economy, the added value of halal certification, and the impact of digitization on the halal business. The event will be held at the WTC Events Center and will also be accessible via live stream on YouTube. Registration is currently open to interested participants.
In 2022, Brazil’s exports of food and beverages to Islamic countries reached an impressive USD 23 billion. Brazil, home to a Muslim population of 1.9 million, is not only the world’s leading halal meat producer and exporter but also a significant supplier of halal-certified foodstuffs.
The Global Halal Brazil Business Forum is designed to foster dialogue and collaboration among global halal experts. The 2021 edition was a resounding success, with over 50 speakers and 3,000 attendees, both online and in-person. The event attracted Brazilian ministers and top officials of respected Arab Islamic entities.
Following the forum discussions, the Halal Brazil project, a joint initiative by the ABCC and the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (ApexBrasil), will organize B2Bs and company visits. This initiative aims to support food and beverage manufacturers in establishing and strengthening their foothold in the global halal market.
The upcoming forum represents a significant step forward for Brazil’s halal industry, reflecting the country’s commitment to expanding its global presence in this market. As the forum continues to grow and evolve, it will undoubtedly play a pivotal role in shaping the future of the halal industry in Brazil and beyond.
