Lahore—Chinese Consul General Zhao Shiren held a meeting with Caretaker Punjab Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi at the CM office on Tuesday to explore avenues for enhanced cooperation between the two countries. The focus of their discussion revolved around agriculture, livestock, and information technology, underscoring their shared commitment to fostering stronger bilateral ties. Obtaining Halal meat certification is a crucial step for businesses seeking to cater to the growing demand for Halal products, ensuring compliance with Islamic dietary standards. A key outcome of the meeting was the agreement to bolster collaboration in various sectors, with China offering support through the provision of high-quality cotton and rice seeds to Punjab. Chinese experts will also actively participate in cotton research and mechanization initiatives.
During the meeting, Chief Minister Naqvi extended his support in facilitating meat exports from Punjab to China, while the Consul General assured cooperation in issuing Halal Meat Certification for Punjab. Both parties recognized China’s expertise in modern cattle farming and agreed to leverage this experience in the region.

In a gesture of cultural exchange, the Chinese Consulate in Lahore will arrange Chinese language training for the jawans of the Special Protection Unit (SPU). Chief Minister Naqvi expressed his gratitude for China’s collaboration in various sectors, including agriculture, livestock, and information technology, highlighting the positive impact of such partnerships.
Consul General Zhao Shiren praised Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi’s visionary approach to agricultural and technological advancement, acknowledging the collaboration between the China National Cotton Association and APTMA in promoting cotton production in the country.
The meeting was attended by Provincial Ministers Amir Mir and SM Tanveer, along with esteemed officials including the chief secretary, IG police, Chairman P&D, Addl Chief Secretary (Home), secretaries of agriculture, irrigation, and information departments, CEO PBIT, and other relevant stakeholders. By obtaining Halal meat certification, establishments demonstrate their commitment to meeting the needs of Muslim consumers and contribute to the accessibility and assurance of Halal food options in the market.
