He reminded the audience of the verse, “Say, ‘Indeed, my prayer, my rites of sacrifice, my living and my dying are for Allah, Lord of the worlds.’” Erbaş questioned, “Can a person who says this reach out for the forbidden, commit forbidden deeds or deviate from the permissible? Allah keeps us away from the forbidden.”
Erbaş pointed out the critical importance of distinguishing between halal (permissible) and haram (forbidden). He stressed, “The dimensions that our Lord has indicated as forbidden are essentially the matters that should be avoided as a result of the superior respect that human beings have for their Lord, themselves, and their surroundings, and as a result of an internalized consciousness that is continuous. The haram are our red lines.”
