The Kazan International Economic Forum, titled “Russia – Islamic World: KazanForum,” hosted a significant workshop by the Islamic Chamber of Halal Services (ICHS) on May 16th, 2024. This event, held at the state-of-the-art Kazan Expo International Exhibition Center, coincided with the XV International Economic Forum in Russia, focusing on expanding the global halal industry’s reach.
“We were thrilled to participate in this year’s KazanForum, acknowledging its critical role in enhancing the halal industry’s development,” expressed Ashraf El Tanbouly, CEO of ICHS. “Our workshop aimed to foster unity and sustainable growth in the halal sector by integrating a multitude of international perspectives.”
KazanForum acted as a central federal platform fostering business exchanges between Russia and the Islamic world, aiming to bolster trade, economic, scientific, educational, and cultural collaborations with regions of the Russian Federation and member countries of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.
The ICHS workshop, titled “Halal Convergence: Uniting Perspectives for Sustainability,” was a key assembly for industry leaders, experts, and stakeholders. Held from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM on May 16th, the workshop hosted three insightful panel discussions:
“Navigating the Future: Standardizing & Regulating Halal” – This session tackled the complexities of creating uniform standards and regulations in the halal industry.
“Halal Trade Dynamics: Private Sector Synergies and Trade Organizations” – Focused on enhancing collaboration across the private sector and trade bodies to boost halal trade dynamics.
“Halal Horizons Unveiled: Governmental and Chambers of Commerce Perspectives” – A dive into the roles of governmental entities and commerce chambers in shaping the future of halal markets.
The panels featured a distinguished lineup of speakers, including H.E. Dr. Hisham Aljadhai from the Saudi Food and Drug Authority, Ms. Fawzia Peer, Vice President of Minara Chamber of Commerce, and H.E. Ihsan Ovut, Secretary-General of the SMIIC, among others, who shared their expertise and visions for advancing the halal industry.
KazanForum continues to be an essential global venue for discussing and devising strategies that drive the economic, social, and cultural partnerships between Russia and the Islamic world, contributing significantly to the regional and global growth of the halal market.
