On Wednesday, South Korean cosmetics contract producer Kolmar Korea Co. announced it would begin supplying Halal cosmetics to the United Arab Emirates. This would be the company’s first move into the Middle Eastern beauty market.
As reported by Kolmar Korea, the UAE Business Point Consultancy, a government-backed trade, and business institution, has decided to distribute Kolmar Korea’s private-label cosmetic items through its physical stores located around the UAE.
Choi Hyun-kyu, CEO of Kolmar Korea, said that the purchase would be a “stepping stone” for the company to enter the Middle Eastern market, given that the United Arab Emirates is the region’s trendsetting consumer market.
According to the statement, “Korea is Going to Supply Halal Cosmetics to the UAE” the products are still under development to address skin issues brought on by the dry and hot climate in the Middle East.
To accommodate UAE requirements, Kolmar Korea has constructed a separate Halal-certified production line in both of its manufacturing facilities, which produces both color cosmetics and skin care products.
Moon Jeong-won, a representative for Kolmar, said that the representatives from the UAE Business Point Consultancy visited the company’s headquarters in the administrative capital of Sejong to test the products and iron out the last aspects of their cooperation.
