The meeting, held at the mission headquarters in Makkah, included representatives from various Kuwaiti ministries and organizations such as the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Information, Ministry of Interior, the General Fire Force, the Public Authority for Youth, the Public Authority for Food and Nutrition, and the Kuwait Red Crescent Society. The discussions focused on the services provided to Kuwaiti pilgrims and the comprehensive Hajj mission plan.
Mohammad Al-Mutairi, Consul General of Kuwait in Jeddah and Permanent Representative to the Organization of Islamic Cooperation highlighted the consulate’s early preparations to facilitate the Supreme Hajj Committee’s work. These preparations aim to ensure that all aspects of the pilgrimage run smoothly, addressing any challenges that may arise.
Saudi Arabia’s Strict Enforcement of Hajj Regulations
In a related development, Saudi authorities have arrested 21 individuals attempting to enter Makkah without valid Hajj permits, as reported by the Saudi Press Agency (SPA). The Ministry of the Interior announced that the Hajj Security Forces apprehended eight residents and 13 citizens for violating Hajj regulations.
The General Directorate of Passports issued administrative decisions against the violators, including a 15-day prison sentence for each, a fine of SR10,000 ($2,666), and deportation for expatriate violators. Vehicles used in the illegal transportation of these individuals were also confiscated.
Ensuring Safety and Security During Hajj
Lt. Gen. Mohammad bin Abdullah Al-Bassami, Director of Public Security and Chairman of the Hajj Security Committee, underscored the priority of safeguarding pilgrims and the holy sites. “The security of the country, pilgrims, and the holy sites is a red line,” he stated during a press conference in Makkah. He emphasized that preventing unauthorized individuals from performing Hajj is crucial to maintaining order and safety.
The Public Security forces have been proactive in addressing violations, seizing 140 fake Hajj campaigns, and 64 carriers violating Hajj regulations. They also returned 97,664 vehicles and 171,587 non-residents of Makkah. Additionally, authorities turned away 153,998 foreigners holding tourist visas instead of the required Hajj visas.
