The Selangor International Halal Convention (Selhac) will debut at the Selangor International Business Summit (SIBS) this October. This third edition of Selhac aims to elevate halal certification for SMEs, optimize supply chain logistics, and introduce innovative digital solutions for the halal industry. By integrating into the broader SIBS platform, Selhac seeks to expand its reach and impact, providing valuable opportunities for business matching and strategic partnerships, ultimately boosting the global presence of the halal sector.
Selangor Convention Integration
State executive councilor Ng Sze Han emphasized the convention’s alignment with the 10th Selangor International Expo (Food and Beverage) – SIE (F&B) during the launch of the 8th SIBS at the Sheraton Hotel. Ng expressed optimism about Selhac’s expanded reach within SIBS, projecting over 60% market penetration success from the 150 companies expected to participate in business matching sessions.
Comprehensive Event Lineup
Selhac 2024 will showcase over 80 industry players from sectors such as logistics, digital innovation, food and beverage, pharmaceuticals, health, cosmetics, personal care, tourism, and hospitality. The event will also feature conferences, seminars, forums, and business matching sessions aimed at fostering strategic partnerships and expanding the global footprint of the halal industry.
Phased Summit Structure
SIBS 2024 will be held in two phases: the 8th Selangor ASEAN Business Conference (SABC) and the 4th Selangor Investment and Industrial Park Expo (SPARK) in July, followed by the 10th SIE (F&B), the 4th Selangor Life Sciences Convention (SLC), and the 9th Selangor Smart City and Digital Economy Convention (SDEC) in October.
Regional Impact and Vision
Ng underscored the regional importance of the summit, stating, “When you invest in Selangor, you invest in ASEAN. This is how we can create a bigger impact because investors are not only looking at the 6.5 or 7 million people in Selangor but the larger 600 million population in Southeast Asia.”
Anticipated Outcomes
The Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC) will host the event, which anticipates participation from stakeholders across Malaysia and Southeast Asia, positioning Selangor as a gateway to the ASEAN market. Invest Selangor aims to facilitate transactions worth RM7 billion and expects over 60,000 visitors from 80 countries, highlighting SIBS 2024’s role in driving economic growth and regional collaboration.
Selhac’s integration into SIBS 2024 signifies a major step in promoting the halal industry, enhancing market reach, and fostering regional economic collaboration.
