Phuket, Thailand – a A training course was held for Halal food operators in Phuket’s tourism industry at the Boat Lagoon Resort on Monday September 8th 2014. PPAO Chief Executive – Paiboon Upattising presided over the launch, and was accompanied by his Deputy – Soratham Jinda, PPAO Advisor – Jeerasak Thortip, the Chairman of the Phuket Islamic Commission – Komol Dumlak, PPAO officials, and guests.
The training course for the Halal food businesses focused on Examination and Certification for International Halal Standards and was participated by 100 staff from the local Halal food operators. The course was led by Chairman of Samut Prakarn Islamic Commission – Paisal Promyong.
Organized by PPAO in collaboration with the Phuket Islamic Committee, the training course aimed to increase knowledge and understanding of the correct procedures for preparing Halal food. Along with increasing the potential for a career or employment within the Halal food sector, the course also raised local Halal food standards so that they are accepted internationally. The training is part of PPAO’s policy of preparing Phuket for visits by Muslim tourists whose number is expected to increase in the near future.
According to Mr Jeerasak, Halal food has to be prepared according to rules prescribed by Islam. Although meant for Muslims, Halal is also fit for consumption by people from other faiths. Processed Halal food figures are important in the export sector and it is therefore imperative that business operators know how to prepare their products properly. By following strict regulations the products receive Halal endorsement.
Mr Paiboon added that the participants have been selected by the Infinite to have the chance to learn and they must therefore have the faith, an act that will help them along on the path to success. Phuket has already paved its way for becoming the regional hub for the Halal food industry by organizing Phuket Andaman Halal Expo which has received international acclaim. However, the Chief Executive said there is a lot of work to be done at community level to promote Phuket’s Halal food industry. He urged participants to do their best to help make Phuket a Halal City.
Halal is the creation of Allah in the form of clean and blessed food. It needs to be prepared with utmost care and consideration, concluded the Chief Executive.
